Three modes, and a few thank-yous

Camaïeu 1.2 is on the App Store. It is the three-mode rework from the last entry: compose, breathe, timer, one switch at the bottom, nothing stacking.

Camaïeu 1.2 in ninety seconds.

That is the last change before Shipaton closes, so this is the moment to say thank you.

I tend to stay away from social media, so Shipaton was a commitment exercise for me, and it turned out to be mostly a matter of time: post regularly while building, and see what comes back. The numbers were not massive, to say the least. But a few people answered, and their answers shaped the app. Orca made the case for the sea when I could not choose an icon, then argued that a small hint gets used where a tour gets skipped. The icon is the sea, and Camaïeu has hints, not a tour. Vladimir told me not to guess, and to read the one-star reviews of similar apps to see whether people actually miss hidden gestures. Great advice: listening to what people complain about is a good way to do better. Simeon, on the day I deleted the Live Photo workaround, recognized the feeling, and that felt good: I was not alone. And the question of which family rides free was settled away from the computer, with someone I watched testing Camaïeu on her own phone, which is of course a great feeling. Verdict: cells.

I had read that building in public works at any scale. I did not believe it, and I was wrong. A couple of replies were enough to change an icon, an onboarding, and how I think about the next app. Thank you.

The Devpost submission goes in by the end of next week. One more entry after that, on what I learned.

Camaïeu is built for RevenueCat's Shipaton 2026. #Shipaton #BuildInPublic
